Illustration, Design & Prepress
Many of our customers are themselves graphic designers or they are working with a graphic designer within their agency or in the private sector. However, an equal number of our customers have developed an exhibit plan, but they need help with graphic design, cartography and/or illustration.
Customers with a plan usually supply exhibit titles, text and reproduction-grade mixed-media artwork. Some will even provide a design “vision” via a “mock layout” or “thumbnail sketch.” Often, however, our designers begin with a blank space, proactively incorporating the supplied resources into an effective design layout. The customer is then creatively involved in a reactive way, suggesting alternatives and requesting changes. Within reason, we continue to modify the layout, at no additional charge beyond the basic design fee, until all concerned are satisfied.
GS Images has a depth of experience in reproduction cartography that predates the advent of computer graphics by many years. From customer-supplied resources (maps with too much or too little information), we can create a hybrid user-friendly map graphic.
Illustrations of specific flora, fauna, habitat ecoscapes (salt marsh, upland forest, etc.), technical diagrams, architectural renderings and reconstructed historical settings can all be developed by our artistic staff--in full color, as line art or in shaded relief. Some resources and/or guidance from the customer are required.
GS Images does not offer exhibit planning services. We expect our customers to identify exhibit locations and themes, and to perform the basic research to develop draft text, identify and procure graphic resources and/or to describe the desired graphics. We can help with the specification of appropriate sizes and orientations (upright or low profile), and occasionally, we even work with the supplied text to make it more concise and user-friendly.
